Our organization
Our mission
Contribute to improving the quality of life of families and children in need by providing them with hot meals and promoting social integration and autonomy in a family living environment.
Our vision
La Grande Table believes that the integration of each member of its community is important, since it allows for the enrichment of its human capital. It is therefore, among other things, by welcoming participants in employment integration projects that La Grande Table supports the autonomy of individuals and encourages approaches favorable to sustainable solutions.
We want everyone to feel at home at La Grande Table. We respect the dignity of each person by remaining non-judgmental and rejecting any form of discrimination. We recognize that everyone may need support at different levels.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of rigor. We strive for the best food, the best financial management, and the best cooking methods to ensure we can help as many people as possible.
We believe that healthy eating is an important determinant of overall health.

In the early 1990s, the job market was affected by the departure of several companies, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Poverty affected a large number of families in Sherbrooke. Several community organizations were created to meet the needs of the population.
CARITAS was one of the pioneers and is busy establishing La Grande Table. Desiring a safe and specific space to meet the needs of families, the concept of a popular restaurant took shape.
Thus, La Grande Table opened its doors on January 21, 1991, at 73 12th Avenue North in Sherbrooke, in a house belonging to the Daughters of Charity. The service was incorporated on August 7 of the same year. The organization relocated shortly after its opening to the Sherbrooke Recreation Center. In the fall of 1992, La Grande Table moved into the premises of the Maison Maurice-Delorme, located at 1255 Daniel Street in Sherbrooke.
Since then, several services have been added to La Grande Table's offering to meet various needs.
Even today, poverty affects a large number of families in Sherbrooke. Among the community organizations called upon to meet the needs of the population, La Grande Table is a major player in front-line food assistance services in the region.
